The Temiskaming Hospital, located approximately 150 kilometres north of North Bay, is nestled upon the traditional territory of the Algonquin, Anishinaabe and Cree people along the beautiful shores of Lake Temiskaming.

  • The Support Services Manager is responsible for the efficient provision of support services including Laundry, Housekeeping, Medical Device Reprocessing and Waste Management.  They are accountable in ensuring cleanliness, sanitation and orderliness of the Hospital facility and articles while maintaining the judicious use of supplies and equipment.  This role oversees activities of Housekeeping, Laundry Services and Medical Device Reprocessing according to recognized standards and administrative policies.  They will devise, develop and adapt operational methods and techniques to provide maximum efficiency within budget allowances.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    -     Act as a consultant, liaison and subject matter expert to all internal and external stakeholders.

    -       Assess, analyze and implement protocols and practices in compliance with provincial and federal guidelines.

    -       Develop and communicate policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.

    -       Review, select and distribute appropriate scientific evidence and best practices.

    -       Link with external agencies across the continuum of care.

    -       Plan and direct activities for housekeeping, laundry and MDRD services.

    -       Participates as a member of the hospital management team in the development, interpretation, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of hospital policies, procedures and plans.

    -       Prepares staff schedules.  Reviews work and leave schedules for staff and ensures that payroll information is accurate and provided to payroll as required.

    -       Responsible and accountable for the preparation and adherence to departmental budgets. Prepares and submits department budget and budget variance reports as required.

    -       Establishes effective relationships with medical staff, nursing and other patient-care services to provide maximum quality and efficiency.

    -       Participates in monthly Hospital Leadership Team meetings and keeps department staff informed regarding policy changes, new developments and trends.

    -       Follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement and WHMIS regulations affecting staff for which they are administratively responsible.

    -       Maintains a positive and professional relationship with the direct departmental reports and initiate conflict resolutions efforts when needed.

    -       Participates in day-to-day events such as resolving workflow issues, scheduling oversight, answering employee inquiries, etc. 

    -       Monitor department performance by conducting probation / performance evaluations and initiate corrective actions when required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

     

    -     Graduate from an approved college or university with a diploma or degree in business or health administration is preferred.

    -     Additional training in environmental services leadership program (i.e. Canadian Healthcare Housekeeper’s Association) and / or equivalent related healthcare experience is an asset.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

     

    -     Three to five years’ experience in a managerial position in a healthcare environment is preferred.

  • The Risk Manager is responsible in the administration and coordination of risk management, safety, emergency preparedness and security services activities  They provide functional safety knowledge in regulatory requirements, safety technical aspects which includes safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, behaviour-based safety, training, regulatory agency enforcement; assist with conducting regular safety drills as per the Emergency Preparedness plan/policies etc; assist leadership with conducting departmental risk assessments as part of the Risk Management program; ensure compliance with the Accessibility of Ontarians Disability Act (AODA); act as the management chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·         Assist in the coordination of the Hospital’s Risk Management system to identify and evaluate hazards, risks, and implement effective controls, corrective solutions, consistent with risk management process.

    ·         Assist with the Emergency Preparedness priority process for Accreditation including conducting regular safety drills as per the Emergency Preparedness Plan and policies.  Act as chair of the Emergency Preparedness Committee.

    ·         Helps in maintaining Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) self-assessment cycle by monitoring and identifying gaps to facilitate appropriate organizational policies and procedures, new initiatives and training within the organization. Provide communication and lead interactions with HIROC.

    ·         Responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of Health and Safety program within the Hospital.

    ·         Provide orientation/ongoing training to staff, physicians, volunteers etc. regarding Risk, Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Incident Reporting as required.

    ·         Participate in the development of programs that are reviewed in the Hospital’s Learning Management System by all new employees, physicians, students and volunteers.

    ·         Gather and report data when requested on Health and Safety performance through the Hospital’s Incident Reporting System.

    ·         Monitor the Incident Reporting System that captures retrospective experiences as well as potential risk situations and improvement opportunities.  Provide quarterly reports to appropriate committees.

    ·         Change management and project management certification completed or in progress is considered an asset.

     Mandatory Requirements:

    • Current registration with CMRITO in both Ultrasound (DMS) and Medical Radiation Technology (MRT / R)

    • Proficiency in MRT (R) and General Sonography

    • CPR Certification

    • Prepare patients for imaging

    • Participate in Callback rotation as well as departmental schedule commitments, which includes day shifts, afternoon shifts, evening shifts and weekends

    Qualifications

    Graduate with a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology;
