The Temiskaming Hospital, located approximately 150 kilometres north of North Bay, is nestled upon the traditional territory of the Algonquin, Anishinaabe and Cree people along the beautiful shores of Lake Temiskaming.

Located in Temiskaming Shores, Temiskaming Hospital (TH) is a fully accredited, small community hospital committed to providing a full range of acute care services, as well as primary care.
Located in Temiskaming Shores with a population of approximately 9,600, the hospital meets the health care needs of a diverse population within the immediate and surrounding areas. As a key member of the Timiskaming Ontario Health Team, the hospital is the largest within its catchment area, which in addition to the Timiskaming District, also includes the municipality of Temagami, representing a total catchment population of approximately 33,000.
As a leader in rural healthcare, the hospital operates 70 beds and employs more than 320 people, 30 physicians, 3 midwives, 15 visiting specialists, and an Allied Health Team providing inpatient and outpatient services including Surgical Services, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and Clinical Nutrition. In addition, Temiskaming Hospital is the district’s referral hospital for Obstetrics and level 1B nursery services with C-section coverage, Telestroke services, and certain diagnostic imaging services. Reporting to the CNE, the NP possesses and demonstrates the competencies to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform specific procedures within their legislated scope of practice as delineated by the College of Nurses of Ontario. NP’s have an essential role in advancing Temiskaming Hospital’s (TH) ALC Strategy to provide high quality and timely care to patients and their families. The NP utilizes a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and an advanced level of clinical competence in caring for patients in an inpatient setting and in an Emergency Department (ED) in collaboration with Physicians and the interprofessional team. The NP will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessment and diagnosis, develop and implement a plan of care, provide health counseling and support in the areas of illness and injury prevention, complications, and health promotion.

The Health Records Transcription Professional is responsible for the daily qualitative and quantitative analysis of all charts to ensure clinical documentation is accurate and complete as per legislation and hospital policies. This position may provide transcription of dictated material and records, data quality reports, productivity reports, deficiencies and delinquency notifications ets.

Responsibilities:
Performs nursing assessment on all patients.
Attends to patient needs.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining quality of patient care, utilizing the nursing process; recognizing and interpreting patients’ conditions and reporting to appropriate persons, as well as taking measures to deal with adverse situations.

Hours of Work:
Combination of 4, 8 and 12 hour shifts. Applicants must be able to work days, evenings, and nights (weekdays and weekends)
Mandatory Requirements:
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing Program
Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current certification in CPR (Basic Life Support-C) and ACLS
3+ years’ experience preferred
Assets:
Recent clinical experience in Labour & Delivery; including antenatal and intrapartum care; post-partum experience with demonstrated ability in caring for the mother / baby
Breastfeeding knowledge, teaching and leadership skills
Demonstrated skill knowledge of IV Therapy
Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Fetal Health Surveillance
PALS, PEARS, ECG 1 & 2, TNCC
Ability to speak fluently in French and understand spoken French

Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for imaging
Accurately collect and confirm clinical information to the investigation
Provide radiologists with high quality imaging, accurate and complete preliminary technical impressions, and discussing ultrasound findings with the Radiologist when necessary
Participate in Callback rotation as well as departmental schedule commitments, which includes day shifts, afternoon shifts, evening shifts and weekends
Also participate in the day to day functions of the medical imaging department (stocking rooms, maintaining records etc.)

Qualifications
Graduate with a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology;
Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario;
Current CPR certification;
Oral proficiency in French at a Superior or advance level is recommended;
Previous Hospital experience is an asset;
Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, Professional Staff and other health care professionals;
Demonstrates strong problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills;
